1Supporting our Extended Family.

  • Vajra Anandam. A pilot project of assisted living for Veterans and Veer Naris has been taken up at Jalandhar and same is likely to be functional in next three months. It is endeavour to provide dignified and respectful living to the poor and incapable Veer Naris, Widows and Veterans of the Corps.

  • Veer Naris. Vajra Corps is committed towards well being and welfare of our Veer Naris. A large No of initiatives have been taken to reach them at Beas, Ferozpur, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. Approx 350 Veer Naris have been felicitated during last six months by means of Veer Nari meets. In addition to the physical meets online/ telephonic outreach has been carried out to approx 9200 Veer Naris and Widows. Regular interaction has also helped in resolving/settling around  2200 grievances.
  • Physical Casualties NoKs.    In keeping with the directions of the COAS, the Corps has taken lead in ensuring that PC NoKs are not forgotten. Comprehensive procedures have been established in all units and formations to ensure release of  all benefits to the NoKs in a time bound manner.
  • Aastha Counselling.   Professional counseling has been organised for the families of the Corps on Marital Discord, Personality Disorders, Educational Motivation, Autism, Domestic Disharmony, Violence and Infidelity. A total of 142 such counseling sessions by professional psychologists have been conducted in last six months.

1Community Practices.

  • Swachh Bharat.  In line with the Govt of India’s initiative, awareness drives culminating into cleanliness initiatives have enhanced levels of general cleanliness. Our families are being co-opted into inculcating “Swachh Practices”.
  • Tree Plantation.  The families in the Corps Zone have all contributed towards “greening” of the station through numerous plantation drives and awareness initiatives.
  • Homeopathy.  An initiative to facilitate provision of Homeopathic treatment free of charge by Dr Harvinder Kaur is available at two different locs in Jalandhar Cantt to maximum families of Jalandhar stn. The same has initiated the families towards an alternate therapy.
  • Yoga.  Regular online Yoga classes by certified Yoga practitioners have been conducted for the families and children in the Corps Zone.
  • Vajra Nature Park.  The facility has been created at Jalandhar Cantt to promote physical fitness in the lap of nature. The same has resulted in the families utilising a state of the art cycling track and walking plaza. The rejuvenated Lake and afforestation in the station has added an excellent retreat option for the families and children.
  • Vocational Training.  Vajra Corps VTC in Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Khasa, Ludhiana and Beas have run an approx of 38 skill development courses, training in excess of 800 ladies in fields as diverse as Spoken English to Car Driving.
  • Vajra Driving School.  A major initiative towards self-reliance of our families. The driving School alumni are a confident set driving through life.
  • Computer Training Centre.  A Computer Training Centre was inaugurated in Jan 21 at Khasa for imparting basic computer knowledge to families & children. 
  • Orientation Trg For Newly Weds.  An initiative to gently break-in newly weds into ways of the olive green.  The initiative has greatly helped ease initial issues faced by young couples. Hindi classes were also org for four weeks for families coming from non-hindi areas by educational JCOs of Units.
